Comic Book Heroes: The Best of 2010-2012

By Stacey Budd

fwdslashfilm.com

With the release of The Dark Knight Rises on DVD and Blu Ray, and the excitement surrounding the release of Iron Man 3 in 2013, we can’t help but think that there probably hasn’t been a better time to be a superhero. Following the overwhelming success of Kick Ass back in 2010, the last two years have spiralled into a whirlwind of Marvel-mania, as comic book heroes from across the decades have congregated on our screens in a fight against evil and a triumph for spandex. Over 70 years on from the foundation of Marvel Comics, geeks and film-lovers alike are still going crazy for caped crusaders, mad for masked vigilantes, and wild for iron-clad warriors. Whether its uber strength, the power of flight, x-ray vision, or extra-sensory perception you’re looking for, we have it all here in our look back at the best superhero movies of the past two years.

'Paranormal Activity 4' review: Was it more of the same shtick? Worth the admission?

The first three flicks were meant to lead to this, which, I guess ultimately they did, but based on the ending, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Paranormal Activity 5.

This was somewhat of a bother, to say the least, as I(and maybe others), was under the impression that this film would nicely round off the PA franchise.

Oh how wrong I was.

'The Dark Knight Rises' (2012) DVD review - Film holds up as it did in theatres, DVD Special Features lacking

There isn't much left to say about The Dark Knight Rises that hasn't already been said. You've all heard what people think, speculating whether Bruce actually survived or not, whether the next franchise (Not helmed by Nolan, according to what we know) will continue from this, or if we'll see a spin-off based on Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character.

If you're planning on buying the DVD, I would opt for the Blu-ray. Don't have a Blu-ray player? I would invest in one. The DVD Special Features are somewhat lacking - well, it has one feature - the Blu-ray, however, has a whopping NINETEEN special features. Definitely a number worthy of the 'Special Features' title.
