Kazed on TV: True Blood

Having just started it's fourth season, I figured now is as good as a time to do a little post on this. I'm a big fan of True Blood, I see it as Twilight, but for adults. Or men. Or Adult men. And Women, of course. Just adult. True Blood is a gritty, sleazy, slutty, dirty, nasty, whorish piece of work, and although all of those words basically mean the same thing, there are an unlimited amount of words one could use to describe TB in a positive light. It follows a young waitress by the name of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who lives in a small town, Bon Temps, Louisiana. She encounters a large number of mythical creatures, and along the way discovers things about herself and her family which are quite unexpected. The show basically revolves around Vampires who actually live in harmony (kind of) with humans in this small town in Louisiana. Well, kind of. That's most definitely not the primary story of the show, there are many surrounding elements that make the show, but I guess a large chunk of the series revolves around Sookie and her relationship with the one billion year old Vampire(He's not that old, I just couldn't be bothered to Wikipedia it), named Bill Compton(Stephen Moyer). Although it can get a little slow at times, there's enough excitement in each episode to keep you entertained for the hour. With season four already started,  the first episode showed us that there are still a billion other stories to be told(not a billion, it's just safer saying a billion in case they do stuff a billion stories into one episode. You never know.). I should mention that True Blood is based off a series of books named something something southern vampire blah blah. Look it up on Google or something. Not really relevant, just thought it deserved a mention. Anyway, if you're into Twilight and you LOVE shiny vampires and R-Pattz and Bella and Edward and that gay wolf guy, then this is definitely NOT for you. Avoid this. Completely. True Blood is violent, gory, bloody, and definitely not for tweens. 7/10 Kazed

Muni on TV: Game of Thrones, Falling Skies, Grand Designs & Wimbledon

Game of thrones HBO So as the first season of the fantasy drama ended on Sunday, people were left amazed and surprised by the ending. This has been one my favourite shows to watch and the characters and story have been a delight to watch. The scenery is outstanding and it is truly remarkable the amount of effort the production company has put into making this show. Yes the death of Sean Bean’s character was a shock and he will be missed, but the other actors have stepped up, and have had a commanding presence on screen. You could be mistaken for thinking I’m in favour of the House of Stark, I feel myself leaning towards the Targaryen’s and after Khalesi’s revelations at the end of the final episode of the season has got me aching to watch the second season. If you haven’t watched this show yet I’m sure you’ve heard about it, if you’re looking to get into a fantastic show then I would recommend this show to you. 9/10 Falling Skies TNT This new show by executive producer Steven Spielberg is a cross between Walking Dead meets War of the Worlds. The premise of the show is rather intriguing, the aliens have been on earth for over 6 months and the humans are trying to survive. Lead by Noah Wyle as Tom Mason a history teacher who is part of a group of people trying to survive, he’s not the leader but he’s high up the food chain. The first two episodes that I’ve watched are well directed the idea is an intriguing watch, that said it is similar to the Walking dead which may be a good thing; we’ll just have to watch and see where the writers take us. I really like it and believe you will like it to if you’re into your alien invasion post apocalyptic world scenarios. 7/10 (could go up or down depending on how the season pans out) Grand designs More4 Now this show has been on for a while now, I never use to give much thought to it, use to catch episodes here and there, my housemate Stacey was a big fan so here’s a shout out to her. Anyway back to the show, it looks at an individual or a couple who design a distinctive and unique building for them to live in. The designs are not your traditional designs and the buildings look exceptional. When I was young I wanted to be an architect but I did not go down that route, I do hope to design a house for my family and me in the future, and believe everyone has an ambition to have there own mark on this planet. I love this show and love seeing the devotion the people have put into making there home. 7.5/10 Wimbledon BBC 1 & BBC 2 Wimbledon is back, and this year it is looking as fascinating as ever. The first week is drawing towards a close and my god there have been some sensational matches that have already taken place. A game I was looking forward to was Isner vs. Mahut, if they sound familiar its because they had the longest match in history over 11 hours played. This year however it was a straight sets win for Isner. Andy Murrey is flaying the British flag and is doing well, honestly I don’t think he will win, my money is on Nedal.  This one is for the sports fanatics and definitely worth a watch, always an enthralling watch captivating the audience around the world. 8/10 On next weeks reviews I will be going over Channel 4’s new comedy Sirens, as well as the new season of Top Gear, which is on this Sunday. As well as the new series I will also be talking about the final episode of Made in Chelsea and Lead Balloon.   MUNI

Muni on TV: Another 4 shows I've been watching

TV REVIEW Angry Boys BBC3 This show by Australian writer actor Chris Lilly is a mockumentary comedy that attempts to show the lives of average Australians. If you every watched his other show summer heights high, then you will enjoy this. I actually did watch that show and found it entertaining and funny, however whilst I was watching this I actually started to get bored by its lack of originality and was not entertained. The characters are a very one-dimensional and honestly would not recommend it, my verdict give it a miss really not worth it. 5/10 Shameless US  More 4 I’ve been a fan of the original UK one and as always I’m very sceptical of remakes of any shows, however from looking at the adverts that have been running on TV I believe that this may just be a hit. William H Macy in the lead role looks like a perfect fit as Frank. The show looks like they’ve stayed close to the story and characters and believe that this show is going to be a hit. My verdict is that watch it alone and the advert and I hope it lives up to it. 7/10 The Kennedys BBC2 The Kennedys are quite possibly the most famous US presidential family in history, and now we get to see there lives unfold in this fictional show. With a star studded cast and excellent writing and directing, the show follows the rise of JFK and how he came in to power as well as the issues he faced whilst he was in office. My verdict is that this is definitely worth a watch, with a great ensemble of cast and a fantastic story I believe that this is worth a watch. 8/10 8 Out of 10 Cats Channel 4 I’ve always been a fan of this show and I’m glad it’s coming back, the same host Jimmy Carr and regular guest patterns. This alone is worth watching it and if you’re stuck indoors on a Friday night then give it a watch.  There’s not much I can say as the show sells itself, if you’re a fan of comedy then this is a show for you. My verdict is, watch it and love it. 7/10 Muni.

Muni on TV: 6 shows I've been watching

First and foremost I would like to start of my apologising for not writing on here every month as I has intended to, third year of university took more out of me then I thought it would, but now that I’m home and unemployed, I got time on my hands so I'll be reviewing TV shows and movies a lot. Enjoy, and if you want me to talk about shows that you think I should then let me know in the comments below. Peace! Made in Chelsea – E4 So I’ve been watching this on E4, it’s like the British version of, “THE HILLS,” yes it has your clichéd characters and storylines filmed as a documentary. There’s already a show on ITV 2 called, “the only was is Essex” and you may think this is like that, and in a way it is, but it is so much better. It is shot in a better style then the latter, and does a good job to keep the viewer interested with better storylines.  I would recommend it if you’re a fan of the hills and such program one for the ladies but always a fun watch. The Apprentice UK – BBC 1 So were five weeks in and I don’t know what season we're on (seven?) anyway this that being said this time around the contestants have a chance to go into business with Alan sugar. We have our usual candidates: brash, annoying, funny, winners and losers. There’s no one who stands out at the moment but Jim is doing a good job mind controlling everyone in the house. Apart from that, Kazed likes Melody, worth a watch if you’re a fan. Lead Balloon – BBC 2 The fourth season of comedy show led by Jack Dee only started last week and already had me in fits! I love this show the dry humour and the relationship Jack’s character has with the rest of his family is amazing. The first episode was very funny and the pig was very cute. Would recommend this to anyone who loves Jack Dee and his honour. Geordie Shore – MTV Jersey shore spin off, based in Newcastle has the same premise off Jersey Shore 8 housemates get together and live in an ultra luxury apartment, they get pissed and pull lads and birds. The show is pretty self explanatory but if you liked Jersey you will enjoy Geordie, with there unique slang and way of life its always a fun watch. Game of Thrones – HBO So HBO have come leaps and bounds over the past few years, with amazing shows like the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and now Game of thrones, this fantasy drama staring Sean Bean has it all: Great story, fantastic actors and is beautifully shot. If you like shows like the ones previously mentioned then this is definitely one for you.  A great story that I would recommend to anyone who wants to watch a good show over the summer. Tough Enough – USA Better late then never, there’s only one more episode left on TE, but don’t let that stop you from downloading (the legal way) the past episodes and watching them. This show has been away for a while but its back with a new host and new trainers. The cast themselves are amazing to watch with a Miss USA in there too! If you’re a wrestling fan and enjoyed the previous seasons then you will definitely love to watch this. Muni.

TV on Movieville: The Walking Dead TV Series (2010-)

I saw an advert (Or commercial for you yanks) for this last night. It was like a 15 second spot, and based on that, I needed to see this show. Think of The Walking Dead as 28 Days Later, meets uh...TV? Yeah. 28 Days Later on TV. I'm about three episodes into the show and, really I think it's sheer brilliance. The Walking Dead is a comic book of the same name, and it's based around a sheriff who goes by the name of Rick Grimes, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln in the show. What is it about? Well, it's about this cop guy, who's on patrol with his friend and colleague, when they get a call on the radio. So they go check this out, and set up a road block to stop these guys who are being chased by some more cops. They get stopped by the road block and a shootout ensues. Grimes gets shot and consequently goes into a coma of sorts. When he wakes up, he finds out that the USA's gone to shit. I guess that's the first episode in a nutshell, WOOPS. MY BAD. Anyway, the show is an amazing blend of a great story and intense action. Quite possibly one of the best shows to grace television in recent times. I said ONE OF, not THE, geez, get off my back. So far, the show is great. I can probably see it getting boring if they don't keep things fresh, but if it's done right, it'll be a hell of a show. Kazed
