Beautifully Put Together 8-Minute-Long Retrospective Of The Films Of 2012 By Kees van Dijkhuizen

If you're unfamiliar with Kees van Dijkhuizen's work, you should check out his YouTube Channel.

Put together in a wonderfully crafted 8 minute video, here are all the highs and lows of the Cinema in 2012. Whether we hated a bunch of Films or we were mesmerised, this video puts together the incredible year we've had this year for Cinema.

Here's what Kees had to say about this video:

null

Our last night on earth; what better way to spend it than with Cinema. Avengers assembled, dark knights rose and odds were in our favor in a fantastic year in film. Epic conclusions conquered the box office, but smaller pictures like Beasts of the Southern Wild, Seeking A Friend for the End of the World, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Imposter and Ruby Sparks conquered the hearts of audiences around the world. It seems every story we’ve heard deserved to be told.

This year was not free of tragedy, however, and it struck close to home. It made me realize the importance of our shared love for cinema; in the darkest of times, it will bring us together. This recap shows the importance of love in difficult times, how we fool ourselves to cope with the pain we cause others and, in the face of the apocalypse, how small we really are. Cinema is a friend, a teacher, a refuge and a safe place. Here’s to that dream.

This fifth episode is also the finale of my Cinema series. It’s been a tremendous joy and I’ve learned so much from your kind words and feedback. This project demanded a lot of time and effort and to see it rewarded so graciously was absolutely mind-blowing. Thank you all for your support these past years, it’s meant so much to me.

Thank you, Kees.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) Review

An initial thought that may arise: "Wasn't Spidey a done deal?"

Maybe. See, Spider-Man's been around for over 50 years. That means some producer can't just come along and pretend there's a new 'interpretation' where Spidey grows silk from his wrists (Yes, I know the Disassembled comics showed this ability but Spidey was in a different state at that point - Grrr Comic Nerd Flame War brewing). Plus we have a whole bunch of Avengers floating around these days, all retaining as much historical accuracy as possible (btw: when will Thor actually turn into Dr Blake?).

Samuel L Jackson to star in Django Unchained (2012)

As confirmed, Samuel L Jackson is to team up once again with Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'. The film is Tarantion's homage to the great westerns of cinema, with a fresh twist. Claiming 'Django Unchained' as a 'Southern', using the setting and political climate of the deep South of america, rather than the sprawling west, the film's subtext will lie with the values of slavery and humanity, rather than the slaughter of Native Americans or the invention of the railway. Jackson will join what is turning into a tremendous cast, with the Oscar winning Cristoph Waltz as a German bounty hunter returning to work with Tarantino, Jamie Foxx as the protagonist Django, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio as Calvin Candie the slave owner. Samuel L Jackson will play DiCaprio's house slave in the film. Other rumoured actors for the film are Kevin Costner and a supposed Treat Williams Django Unchained is set for a 2012 release, which is looking to be a great year for movie-goers!

EXCLUSIVE! Video of Batwing 'flying' through streets for The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Wow, we don't seem to get any other news, do we? Anyway, the title says it all.     I dunno, looks a little chunky to look like the Batwing, but then, Nolan's re-do of the Batmobile(or 'Tumbler') wasn't exactly traditional either. Ahh. It'll look better when everything's been visual effectified and such.
