Muni on TV: Sopranos, Apprentice, Dirty Pretty Things

TV shows of the Week The Sopranos (a complete review of the show) This show about the Mafia in New Jersey, the show ran between 1999 – 2007 and was a huge success critically and commercially with high viewing figures for the network (HBO.)  The story revolves around Anthony "Tony" Soprano and his life as a father, husband and leader of a mob in the 21st century. He is also seeing a psychiatrist for his problems of blacking out. The show goes on to develop wonderful characters from his wife Carmella, and children AJ and Meadow, both of whom age well on screen and have a great presence. Furthermore, the other mob members and gangs are terrific it is so well put together everything on the show is plausible and believable, and portrays an excellent way of mob life in the 21st century.  Throughout the series, Tony is faced with many challenges and has a lot to deal with and that’s what I love about the show there’s always something amazing going on in the show never having a bad episode. The final episode and the final scene is talked about but true Soprano fans, I won’t spoil anything but I was left speechless for a while after seeing the ending. The show is realistic, compared to many other mafia shows and movies I have seen. Overall I’d say if you want to watch something old and interesting and with great compelling stories to cinematic style in directing I would whole heartedly recommend this to you, trust me you wont be disappointed. 9/10 Dirty Pretty Things This is a show that’s started on E4 about 8 different models, modelling for a well-known photographer. Each of the individuals has a back-story and what they hope to achieve in the modelling industry. The premise is simple following the lives of the individuals and is with them whilst they are on there own personal journey.  I’ve watched the first couple of episodes and both have been a nice watch, but nothing amazing. It has a good concept and a great cast of models, but it does lack something, heart, charisma - I don’t know but something’s missing. Anyway I’ll see how this one pans out throughout the series. 6/10 The Apprentice So the final was on last night and my god was it as enthralling as it could have been, the last four Susan, Helen, Jim and Tom. Four talented and vastly different candidates were in the final week pitching their business plans to Lord Alan Sugar’s closest colleagues as well as the man himself.  The final had a lot of the typical stuff from Lord Alan’s aids, mocking, humiliating, degrading and crushing the final candidates, but it was a surprise of who won. The final two left were Helen and Tom, Helen the most talented of them all of the candidates winning 10 and only losing 1 task throughout the entire series fell at the last hurdle with her weak business plan. That left Tom to get the win for the new chair design and the inventor did it for the geeks, nerds and the quirky men all over the world. I’m glad he won; he was an underdog from the beginning and deserved to be in the final as well as being the winner of the show. This has been an entertaining series of the apprentice and one that will be talked about a lot of people for the winner, Mr. nice guy.  Great show as always and I’m looking forward to the junior apprentice. 7.5/10

Muni on TV: 6 shows I've been watching

First and foremost I would like to start of my apologising for not writing on here every month as I has intended to, third year of university took more out of me then I thought it would, but now that I’m home and unemployed, I got time on my hands so I'll be reviewing TV shows and movies a lot. Enjoy, and if you want me to talk about shows that you think I should then let me know in the comments below. Peace! Made in Chelsea – E4 So I’ve been watching this on E4, it’s like the British version of, “THE HILLS,” yes it has your clichéd characters and storylines filmed as a documentary. There’s already a show on ITV 2 called, “the only was is Essex” and you may think this is like that, and in a way it is, but it is so much better. It is shot in a better style then the latter, and does a good job to keep the viewer interested with better storylines.  I would recommend it if you’re a fan of the hills and such program one for the ladies but always a fun watch. The Apprentice UK – BBC 1 So were five weeks in and I don’t know what season we're on (seven?) anyway this that being said this time around the contestants have a chance to go into business with Alan sugar. We have our usual candidates: brash, annoying, funny, winners and losers. There’s no one who stands out at the moment but Jim is doing a good job mind controlling everyone in the house. Apart from that, Kazed likes Melody, worth a watch if you’re a fan. Lead Balloon – BBC 2 The fourth season of comedy show led by Jack Dee only started last week and already had me in fits! I love this show the dry humour and the relationship Jack’s character has with the rest of his family is amazing. The first episode was very funny and the pig was very cute. Would recommend this to anyone who loves Jack Dee and his honour. Geordie Shore – MTV Jersey shore spin off, based in Newcastle has the same premise off Jersey Shore 8 housemates get together and live in an ultra luxury apartment, they get pissed and pull lads and birds. The show is pretty self explanatory but if you liked Jersey you will enjoy Geordie, with there unique slang and way of life its always a fun watch. Game of Thrones – HBO So HBO have come leaps and bounds over the past few years, with amazing shows like the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and now Game of thrones, this fantasy drama staring Sean Bean has it all: Great story, fantastic actors and is beautifully shot. If you like shows like the ones previously mentioned then this is definitely one for you.  A great story that I would recommend to anyone who wants to watch a good show over the summer. Tough Enough – USA Better late then never, there’s only one more episode left on TE, but don’t let that stop you from downloading (the legal way) the past episodes and watching them. This show has been away for a while but its back with a new host and new trainers. The cast themselves are amazing to watch with a Miss USA in there too! If you’re a wrestling fan and enjoyed the previous seasons then you will definitely love to watch this. Muni.
