Kazed Reviews: Tron: Legacy (2010)

Synopsis: The son of a virtual world designer goes looking for his father and ends up inside the digital world that his father designed. He meets his father's creation turned bad and a unique ally who was born inside the digital domain of The Grid. What a film. So it wasn't that strong story-wise, but visually, hot damn it was amazing. I suppose, in many ways, it could be compared to Avatar, in the sense that Avatar was all pretty and no story. You sort of get lost within this vast world that's been created (The Grid), so you tend not to notice the shitty story that's going on. Okay, okay, that's a little harsh, it's not shitty, it just lacked depth, there wasn't enough going on, it was like this one thing happening. My mind needed more. It demanded more. It demanded Inception. Inception of a freakin better story. Again, it wasn't that bad, but what made it worse was the ending. Seriously, the ending was a mega wtf moment. In a way, it was good, because it didn't leave much for a follow up to this film. What was commendable though, was the score to this film. Not at all a fan of Daft Punk, but the music was laced incredibly well with the film, and mixed with the intense action scenes within 'The Grid' was certainly an interesting combination. So: "Is the film good?" Yeah, it's a good watch if you're looking for badass music and amazing action scenes within an incredible 3Dimensional universe. Lacks a little depth in the plot department, but I don't know why the ending was how it was. It made sense why it was there, but it shouldn't have been the ending. My two cents. 6.5/10 from me. Movieville.org's first Academy Award picks. So it wasn't THAT bad, I got 6 correct of the 19 listed. Ahem. never mind, to be completely honest though, some of them I felt I should change after I wrote the post, but it wouldn't have seemed fair. Not so bad. To see the rest of the winners I haven't listed here, clicky. The Hurt Locker deservedly took away the Best Picture award, although Avatar had its 'prime rib' moments, there were too many elements that were stacked against Cameron & Avatar. Like his past with Bigelow. Zing. Seriously though, whether any of the films won or not, each film has the power to capture an individual's attention, and these awards are merely an ego booster.
