Second Screening - Entourage

So, after Martyn introduced the idea of 'Second Screening' to the site, I figured what better time to talk about this then now. Initially, while Entourage was airing over in the states, I was aware of it's existence, but hadn't actually given it a chance. It was only until this year, during it's seventh season that I started to watch. It was actually Muni who introduced me to the show, so I figured why the hell not. Let me summarise the show for you. It revolves around an already relatively famous actor, Vincent Chase(portrayed by Adrian Grenier), who travels everywhere with his entourage (big surprise, eh?). His entourage comprises of his manager, 'E' who has been Vince's best friend since they were kids, Johnny Chase, Vince's Z-list actor brother, and Turtle, the driver/slave boy. Jeremy Piven, playing Vince's agent, Ari Gold is an amazingly humorous character, and most definitely the highlight of the show. His over the top offensive attitude is hilarious to watch, especially when at the expense of lesser characters. The premise is simple enough; basically what Hollywood is like from an actor's perspective (and immensely entertaining too). Almost every episode has a guest star ranging from 50 Cent to Mandy Moore, to Seth Green, Anna Faris- the list literally goes on and on. What interested me the most about this show was the electric chemistry between the primary cast members and how their relationships evolve throughout the series. Although some of the performances were lacking a few times, it didn't detract from the brilliantly concocted story lines and guest appearances. With the final season just around the corner and a film being talked about after the end of the series, Entourage is definitely one to watch, especially if you like seeing the glamorous Los Angeles full of the facades they call celebrities. No I kid, but still, it's an interesting insight to how the film/tv industry/Hollywood is from an actors perspective. Not saying it's a 100% accurate, but you never can tell. This gets a 7/10 Kazed

Kazed reviews: Skyline (2010)

Synopsis: Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth I'll keep this short. This film was wtf. The film could've done without the first 15 minutes. For realsies. It was complete and utter nonsense. Wasn't needed, wasn't required, wasn't needed, wasn't required. Was.not.needed. Let me give you my list of shit that pierced my rectum for this film:
  • The Aliens are never explained.
  • Over usage of slow motion, I mean, what the eff? It's used at the most unnecessary time, it really pulled on my pubes.
  • The shitty acting
  • How it tried to be different with it's handheld-style camera work. Newsflash, dumbass, it's been done.
  • BRAINSUCKINGALIENS. REALLY?
  • The shitty acting
  • The shitty acting
Really, it was a recipe for disaster. The guy from 24, (Eric Balfour) was (I guess) the main character in this here flick, and to be honest with you, I didn't care. Truthfully speaking, the only commendable aspect for the film was the visuals, but even then, it was like two occasions. So, watching it was not that unbearable, it was a watchable film, but then it got to the last 10 minutes, and OH MY GOD. Seriously, what were they thinking? How is that EVEN possible? (Now, for those of you who haven't seen it, <scroll over for SPOILERS> a guy dies, his brain is somehow 'special' compared to others, so this brain gets implanted into one of these aliens, and this alien he becomes, saves his fianceé from possible termination. So then- forget it. Just don't watch it, I beg you) It just didn't make any sense whatsoever, then again, neither did the rest of the film, but this was just blerg. Anyway, gets a 3/10 from me. Time Traveler's Wife review - Lola's take

Spoiler Inside SelectShow
After the disheartening movie adaptation of the Lovely Bones, I was slightly apprehensive about giving the Time Travellers Wife a watch. However, curiosity got the better of me, and this evening I found myself curled up on the sofa in front of the TV ready to have a good old weep. I was not disappointed. The movie made the exceptionally unbelievable storyline slightly believable. The actual disappearance of Eric Bana's character was not too rubbish (although admittedly it could have been better) and Rachel McAdams' portrayal as the wife constantly awaiting her time travelling husbands return was just perfect. Like the Lovely Bones, I was a massive fan of the book, and I am now a massive fan of the film. This will please every single fan of the novel, every single fan of the Notebook, and every single fan of Eric Bana (as you see him naked more times than I could count….hoorah!) a very pleasant 6/10 from me. Lola x
