New images for 'Contagion' (2011)

Source: Thinkjam Synopsis: “Contagion” follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days.  As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself.  At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart. I'm really looking forward to this film. I was at an airport earlier today, and the idea of the entire airport falling apart in mass chaos because of a virus was a chilling but damn interesting thought. Check out these stills from Steven Soderbergh's Contagion.

New TV Spots for Steven Soderbergh's 'Contagion' (2011)

I'm a fan of films based on viral destruction. It's amazing. Check these TV spots out. Tv Spot #1 TV Spot #2   This looks pretty cool, and the idea of the world ending due to a Virus still doesn't seem overdone to me. I think there's plenty of life left in the Virus film. Plenty of time, methinks.   Contagion releases September 2011.

Lola reviews Studio Ghibli series: Arrietty (2011)

For anyone who isn't familiar with this movie, it is the latest release from the magical Studio Ghibli who have brought us many wonderful films such as Spirited Away and Ponyo. With many wonderful films under their belt everyone awaits for their inevitable flop, I mean it happens to everyone, right? Not this time. This film is truly wonderful from the get go.

Arrietty is an anime version of the borrowers, which instantly made me happy because I remember the tv show as a child which I turned into an awesome playground game thus resulting in many happy memories... Anyhow, back to the movie:

The main character in this movie is a young girl named, yep you guessed it, Arrietty. She's fast approaching 14 meaning she's to learn the skills of 'borrowing'. Her first borrowing mission is cut short however when a young boy sees her trying to 'borrow' a sheet of tissue. This is of course the worst possible thing to happen to the Borrowers who strive to remain unseen as a matter of live and death. However, instead of trying to catch them, the young boy and Arrietty strike up an unlikely friendship...

I wont say any more about the plot, as I would not like to ruin it for any of you.

While it may not be an action packed movie it certainly was an absolute treat for the peepers, and made my heart swell with joy. My only negative points being it was a little bit slow to start, and there was a super cheesy farewell between Arrietty and the young boy, but it was still lovely, and I left feeling very enchanted.

Well done Ghibli. 7/10.

Hugo (2011) gets a trailer!

Martin Scorsese' next film, 'Hugo' now has a trailer, but what do you think of it? it feels like a mixed up teaser trailer for a small indie film has been pushed through the system and ended up as an unfinished final trailer. Sasha Baron Cohen's character hardly amuses, and this trailer from the mastermind behind 'Taxi Driver' among others' feels like it's had a knock back before it's even had time to get going. Trailers cost a lot of money for studios, and when they're bad it is a shame, almost unintentionally casting a shadow over the film. A team in advertising has cleared this, and their work is a representation of a legend's latest film, so hopefully their edit of the footage for the trailer isn't a true to source piece, and this teaser is forgotten in due time.       It may sound like I'm being spiteful, but it is a set back, as I've personally been looking forward to the next film from one of my inspirations in life. It's Scorsese's first attempt in 3d, it's a child's Christmas film, and it's from the man who gave us the atmosphere in 'Gangs of New York', 'Raging Bull' and Goodfellas', This trailer just doesn't convey to me what I thought it would Hugo is set for a release this year on December 2nd in 3D and 2D. What do you think about the trailer?
