'Drive' (2011) reviewed by Kazed

Synopsis: A Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong. I like Ryan Gosling. He's not in a lot of things these days. So it was nice seeing him in something. I'll be honest though. I didn't like this film very much. It certainly had it's shining moments, and Gosling's character was well developed, I just felt that the pacing wasn't... well, paced enough. For something named 'Drive', it wasn't exactly 'Driving' fast enough. Okay, that was bad. Not to say it was a bad film, I'm probably not used to films which delve into the 'abstract' genre. It's something I just don't get. This film wasn't so bad, but I could think of a number of examples which will just have an overuse of experimental shots. Off track. The performances, however, from each of the cast members (Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and Gosling) were far above what I had expected them to be when I started watching the film. Another thing which stood out in this film, as obvious as it sounds, was the sound. It may seem a little obvious when you give it a watch, but there were a few instances I really admired what was done with the sound editing, specifically Gosling's gloves in the film. Aside from the... 'abstracticity', if you will, visually, Drive is commendable. Same goes for the performances, too. In summary though: Performances: 8/10 Plot: 6/10 Visuals: 6/10 Dialogue: 5/10 Overall: 6.5/10 You can check out more films at MovieMail Ltd.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps(2010) review

Synopsis: As the global economy teeters on the brink of disaster, a young Wall Street trader partners with disgraced former Wall Street corporate raider Gordon Gekko on a two-tiered mission: To alert the financial community to the coming doom, and to find out who was responsible for the death of the young trader's mentor. Now I'd be lying if I said I was expecting a lot from this film, and I'd also be lying if I said it was a bad film. Because it was far from that. Sure, the film continues from the 1987 film Wall Street, doesn't mean this film was as good as it's predecessor. It was great seeing Douglas back as Gekko, and some other familiar faces, but what made the film what it was for me, was the incredible performances all round. Shia LeBeouf did a great job leading the way, his performance was pretty intense, but his on screen counterpart, Carey Mulligan, did an adequate job, I wasn't too thrilled on the idea of the whole marriage thing, I felt the film should've more revolved around LeBeouf and Douglas, although it did, I think Mulligan was an addition which just didn't work. The story itself was great, like I said, there were a few minor annoyances (one of them mentioned above), but It didn't detract from the freakin stellar performances from Douglas and co. I just can't stress that enough. This film - Was saved by it's performances. 5.5/10 Kazed

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) teaser & EXCLUSIVE clips/images

Check these out, a sequel to the 1987 film Wall Street, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. It could be a huge disappointment, I'm not liking some of the elements thrown into the mix, like Gekko's Daughter, LeBouf marrying her etc. Let's hope Douglas stelas the show.

Exclusive clips:

"The Right Question":

"Start Calling Me Gordon"

Clips courtesy of Substance. I'm really excited for this either way, I'm excited to see how it continues. Kazed.
