Muni Reviews: Senna (2011)

Synopsis: A documentary on Brazilian Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna, who won the F1 world championship three times before his death at age 34. I want to start of by say that the director did a stunning job to go through all the archival footage to pick out some superb shots, the film is visually stunning and it looks fantastic. I got thrills watching this, and it definitely game me goose bumps. The story was very compelling, and watching the rivalry unfold in front of my eyes between Senna and Prost, was incredible to watch. You could see the determination in both of them as they fought with each other for the coveted title. I’m a huge fan of F1 and follow it when its on TV, so watching this made me an even bigger fan of the sport. I was born in 1988, whilst Senna was becoming a household name around the world. Its great to see how the cars were back then, as well as the racing drivers, it really brought me closer to the sport. Throughout the film you could see the Senna only wanted to drive and win, there were a lot of politics in the sport, and you could see that clearly visible in the film. Some of the scenes were Senna gets upset was emotional, and difficult to watch. You could see the passion in him and how hurt he got with the politics within the sport. The documentary also show how Senna rose to fame, his many women in his life as well as the upbringing he had which was different to most children form Brazil.  The film is very poignant and definitely very thrilling to watch. I believe after watching this film it made me more aware of the man who most people regard as the greatest racing driver of the century. Before I watched this film I had known some stuff about him but after watching it, the film gave me an insight of how great the sport was back then. Overall I’d say this is a tender, sweet, thrilling and exciting film to watch, it has everything form drama betrayal, excitement and more. I would recommend this film, and as a documentary it is one to watch. 9/10

Muni on TV: Lead Balloon

Lead Balloon BBC 2 So it was the end of the fourth series and what a way it ended, let me just say that I’ve become a fan of Jack Dee whilst watching this show, and my god he has not disappointed this series. I didn’t really know what to think about what was going to happen to this series as it still had the regular cast, and I didn’t really know where the story would go. I think it has been a successful series with a great story throughout, the Robbie Coltrane  episodes were really good considering the second episode was just between two people and was still entertaining. Overall I’d say this has as usual been a wonderful show to watch and a definite show to catch on the iplayer. 8/10 Right so I was hoping to review The Sopranos this week as well but as it has been a busy week, I’ve been rushing to finish the 6th and final season, but not done yet. I’m sorry about this and will get it reviewed for next week. Spending so much time watching The Sopranos I haven’t really been able to watching anything else. However I would say I caught the last 15 minutes of Dirty Sexy Things on E4, and from what I saw I would definitely be tuning in next week as well as catching up on 4OD. There is a show called The Hour that starts on BBC2 around the 17th of July will let you know about the date next week, from the advert the show looked very unique and interesting and definitely will be watching that. Also, Teen Wolf started this week on TV and I didn’t even realise this was being made. Silly me! Again from the advert the show looks like a mix of Smallville with a bit of Kyle XY and One Tree Hill, a pretty unique mix, will try to review next week. Finally from what I believe the final episode of The Kennedys will be on BBC2 next week, so will review tat in a couple of weeks too. Follow me on Twitter: @munikazi

Kazed Blogs: Harry Potter and The City of Movieville n shit.

I'll be honest here. I never actually saw a Harry Potter film up until last December, only because they never really appealed to me, and now I know why. I'm 5 films into the saga, and there have been parts where visually, it's definitely impressive, but the performances were clichéd, although there were odd moments which made me chuckle. Granted, it's a family film, so expecting it to be full of "fucks" and "shits" is OBVIOUSLY not a good idea. I wanted to give the films a chance, I wanted to see why the series is the biggest grossing series of all time, and I can see why people love it so goddamn much. Really though, they're all pretty annoying and repetitive. All this equals to a pretty substandard viewing experience, and although the performances were subpar, one can't deny that Harry and co. have certainly matured, and their years on the set of HP has definitely improved throughout the series. What I love too though, was the many expressive faces of Hermoine Granger. That bitch can bust out all sorts of expressions which just light up the friggin screen. That girl can emote like a mothereffer. I'm intrigued to watch the last two, purely just to see how it unfolds, because obviously, I'm not gonna read the books. That would take too long. Although it would be interesting to see the comparisons between the source material and the film. The story itself is whatevs, you know, it's interesting enough, it grasped me long enough not to fall asleep, so I guess that's commendable enough. Thus ends my quasi-rant on Harry Potter. Kind of. Once I've seen all 7, I'll come to a conclusion. Who knows, I may end up dressing up as Dumbledore while writing it. Kazed.
