Observe and Report (2009) review

Synposis: Bi-polar mall security guard Ronnie Barnhardt is called into action to stop a flasher from turning shopper's paradise into his personal peep show. But when Barnhardt can't bring the culprit to justice, a surly police detective, is recruited to close the case. I observed, and now I'm reporting. There really isn't a lot to report, it seemed as though the film was a cheaper knockoff of the 2006 Employee of The Month. There were striking similarities to the 2006 film, but still had a semblance of originality within the plot and some of the characters. Speaking of originality, there was absolutely no originality in Anna Faris' character, 'Brandi'. Simply put, it is the same character she's been playing countless times. Scary Movie, The House Bunny, Friends, Just Friends, to name just a few. It's something that's past redundant. It doesn't even exist anymore. The whole idea of her playing a 'typical' blonde make my testicles shrivel up and implode. Enough of that though, Seth Rogen, as expected was quite hilarious, but there was nothing that I haven't seen before, although there were tears, something which I thought he pulled off well. Ray Liotta's character left a lot to be desired; he didn't really standout to me. There were a number of twists which I thought were pretty effin' funny; taking on 50 cops and almost winning sounds like a helluva time to me. Not the best film I've seen starring Seth Rogen, but still worth the watch. 5.5/10

Youth in Revolt review

Spoiler Inside SelectShow
Youth in Revolt was definitely different compared to the usual, monotonous romantic comedies which have been released in recent times(With the exception of Valentine's Day), but this film was definitely a 'different breed' of this genre. It was definitely an interesting film, although it wasn't a constant flurry of entertainment, it still maintained some remnant of comedic value throughout. Michael Cera(playing Nick Twisp) definitely stood out in Youth in Revolt compared to his past efforts; playing a different type of character from what he usually plays, a dull, wooden version of himself. That isn't to say that he isn't funny, after a while, the same type of character begins to run dry and repetitive. Francois, Nick Twisp's alter ego in the film was a character which to me, added more differentiation to the characters Cera usually plays. There were moment within Youth in Revolt which I found relatively humorous, and it was these moments which were most memorable. Primarily the scenes with Francois were the ones which stood out, as they were different to what I'm usually used to seeing Michael Cera in. Portia Doubleday(Playing Sheeni, Nick's love interest) had an interesting character, but what gravitated me more toward her was her dialogue. Or, the way she was performing her lines. She had such an eloquent style when she spoke, which was complimentary to the lifestyle of her parents in the film. Not the most exciting film of the year so far, but still an interesting look at Cera doing something different. Lovely dialogue, great cast choice, moderately funny romantic comedy. 7/10

Steve Carell & Tina Fey in 'Date Night'

In my opinion, two of the best comedians of my generation(well, not mine, I guess they're pretty old, but still, whatever) get together in what looks to be an amazing film. Kristin Wiig, James Franco, are just a couple of names among the all star cast in this comedy set to hit us April 9, 2010.
'Date Night' revolves around a bored married couple, Claire and Phil Foster, and one glamorous night out on the town. But, the date night they planned turn disastrous when it leads to a real case of mistaken identity, a Mob effort to kill them and an Odyssean getaway through New York City's nightscape. - AceShowbiz
