Classics: You've Got Mail review

The term 'rom-com' is used so loosely these days it's hard to decide which is and which isn't. It's classics like 'You've Got Mail' which are the staples of these so-called 'romantic comedies'. Synopsis: I found 'You've Got Mail' to be quirky, profound and just plain different from other romantic films I've seen in the past. It had elements of the typical formulaic romantic film, but overall it was a different, refreshing, and warm-hearted romantic-comedy. The way the two characters(Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks) in the film develop the relationship was what intrigued me the most. It was an innocent kind of relationship which didn't extend beyond the borders of- well, innocence. It was merely an exchange of views on daily life between individuals of the opposite sex, while keeping both their identities a secret. Though both of them were in seemingly committed relationships, neither of them seemed to care how deep in they were getting into the situation. The scene where Ryan and Greg Kinnear talk about their relationship was precisely what I'm referring to when I say this isn't like any other rom-com. The way they both reacted and behaved after this was sheer comedy, and was most definitely noteworthy. It was something which I hadn't saw before and is exactly why I felt this film was peculiar(in a good way), and rightly so classed as a 'Classic'. Good film, quirky dialogue, intriguing concept, fresh look at internet relationships. 8/10 Kazed

Classics: Saving Private Ryan Review

Classics? Not sure. Good film? Definitely. Here's a first instalments of what will be any Classic reviews(Classic in the sense that it's old. Unless otherwise stated) I'm not sure what it is with WWII, but I just think the very notion of it is just incredibly awesome(The positive parts, not the horrificness), and every time I see a movie that relates to the WWII, it amazes me. Not sure why, exactly, but it just has something that makes me want to watch it over and over. One perfect example, Band of Brothers. That's for another time though. Right now, Saving Private Ryan. Now this film isn't exactly the BEST depiction of WWII I've seen, as it did seem to me as if it was about the incredible prowess and competence of the Americans. sarcasm. I did, however, like the whole idea of how a brotherly bond emerged from amongst the anger that was present between the squad toward the beginning. I have to say though, it wasn't completely predictable, because there were those moments where members of the team actually died. Not just those losers who were scared to shoot anyone(Surprisingly he was the one who survived), but it was the main protagonist(Tom Hanks), and the other macho soldiers who died, a pretty awesome death. Or gruesome, whichever. I absolutely loved the cowardice of the 'loser', having a German soldier walking straight past him without even touching him- It was brilliant to watch, and the expression of the German solider after he walked past him was just great. It was literally like seeing a Dog piss on a Cat. This was done with expression though. The German soldier expressively pissed on the American. Brilliant. The colour of the entire film was well suited to the surrounding, dingy, murky, just basically depressing. It was good though, it added well. I don't think it would've looked better with bright hues and high contrasts. not good. Not good. Either way, this was a good film, yeah, I've missed out quite a few bits, but hey, I think I covered the main part. 7.5/10 Kazed

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (WBEI) has created DC Entertainment Inc., a new company founded to fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand and characters across all media and platforms, to be run by Diane Nelson, it was announced today by Barry Meyer, Chairman & CEO, and Alan Horn, President & COO, Warner Bros. DC Entertainment, a separate division of WBEI, will be charged with strategically integrating the DC Comics business, brand and characters deeply into Warner Bros. Entertainment and all its content and distribution businesses. DC Entertainment, which will work with each of the Warner Bros. divisions, will also tap into the tremendous expertise the Studio has in building and sustaining franchises and prioritize DC properties as key titles and growth drivers across all of the Studio, including feature films, television, interactive entertainment, direct-to-consumer platforms and consumer products. The DC Comics publishing business will remain the cornerstone of DC Entertainment, releasing approximately 90 comic books through its various imprints and 30 graphic novels a month and continuing to build on its creative leadership in the comic book industry. Current DC properties in development and/or production at Warner Bros. Entertainment include: -- "Human Target" is being produced by Warner Bros. Television for a mid-season debut on Fox. -- "Midnight Mass" is in series development at Warner Bros. Television for consideration for the 2010-11 season. -- "Jonah Hex," Warner Bros. Pictures' supernatural Western starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox and John Malkovich, recently wrapped production in Louisiana. -- "The Losers," Dark Castle/Warner Bros. Pictures' action-adventure drama starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans, began principal photography mid-July in Puerto Rico. -- "The Green Lantern," Warner Bros. Pictures' next big superhero tentpole release, recently cast Ryan Reynolds as the titular character.
