Hilarious trailer for 50/50 (2012) with Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are two performers who are definitely in my top 10(20?) list. This trailer is great.
Inspired by personal experiences, 50/50 is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humor in unlikely places. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis. Rogen also serves as producer, along with Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin. Jonathan Levine directs from a script by Will Reiser. “We worked with Will on Da Ali G show, and it was shortly after that we learned he was sick.” Rogen recalls. “As shocking, sad, confusing and generally screwed up as it was; we couldn’t ignore that because we were so ill-equipped to deal with the situation, funny things kept happening. Will got better, and when he did, we thought the best way to pull something good out of the situation was to get him to write a screenplay. Ideally we wanted to make a film that would be as funny, sad, and hopefully as honest as the experience we went through. As soon as the script was completed, it quickly became a passion project for all of us. It helped us come to terms with Will’s struggle as well as our own experiences.” 50/50 is the story of a guy’s transformative and, yes, sometimes funny journey to health. 50/50 draws its emotional core from Will Reiser’s own experience with cancer and reminds us that friendship and love, no matter what bizarre turns they take, are the greatest healers

Kazed reviews: Paul (2011)

Originally, I had set off to watch Limitless, but as fate had it, it wasn't my destiny to see this. So instead, myself and my friends decided to watch Paul. Not that it should be considered an afterthought, just that...you know. Bradley Cooper. He's so dreamy. Anyway, recently I've been catching up on Spaced, the sitcom written by and starring Simon Pegg (Directed by Edgar Wright, of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, previously). Before watching Spaced, I also watched Hot Fuzz again, which also stars Simon Pegg, and also Nick Frost. What's the point of all this you say? Well, I'm not usually into British comedies, I usually hate them- but recently I've been watching a lot more of them. Shit. I've forgotten why I started this paragraph. Dammit, I'll leave it in anyway so it looks like a lot more text LOL. Paul is about a little alien dude who crash lands on Earth and has been on the planet since 1945, and it's now that the government want to
Spoiler Inside SelectShow
All is not lost though, because the little alien dude, conveniently named "Paul", finds two nerds on a tour of all the Extraterrestrial spots on the West Coast of the US. It was a fun film. Fun, as in, if it had any stupid moments in it, it was justified, because it was a 'fun' film. There were some gorgeous shots during the tour scenes, some of the beauty of the natural landscape was breathtaking. That's all  got. I'm out of descriptive words. Seriously though, I'm trying to think of a scene which brought the film down in any way, but I'm struggling...If I was going to pick out something negative (and this is me being really nit-picky), it'd have to be the scene when the three protagonists are being chased, and there's an overhead shot of the front of their Winnebago-type-vehicle, then it cuts to the back of it, but the road's different. That's it. Thing is though, although that part was really the only negative I could find, the film wasn't 'all that'. It was a light-hearted comedy (kinda), with some great performances from both Frost and Pegg, and the additions of Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and that other guy were all great. Oh, and Sigourney Weaver. I will say, that the animation on the alien were OUT OF THIS WORLD (oooooohhhhh.). It really seemed right on the button. This might sound stupid, but the physical presence of the little guy seemed really believable. Rogen voicing the thing was a great choice. It just seems like such an odd voice for something like that. ANYWAY. I liked this film. It didn't leave me with any exciting feeling afterwards, like I usually get when watching Sci-Fi films, but it was still a good film nevertheless, but nothing to write home about. Wow this wasn't even a review. WHATEVER. 6.5/10 Kazed

Kazed reviews: Green Hornet (2011)

Synopsis: Following the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team I like Seth Rogen. I do. I enjoy his exploits on the big screen. This wasn't an exception, but wasn't up to par with what I consider to be some of his best(Knocked Up, Superbad, Funny People). There were funny moments which occasionally made me chuckle, but these occasions were rare. I laughed about 4 times in during the film, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy the film. It just wasn't much of a "comedy". Rogen's performance was good as expected,  but ultimately it was the dialogue that failed him on this occasion. Although the actions scenes were quite well done, they weren't that impressive. It was all just too...flashy. The film itself was okay, but then, I wasn't expecting much. It had it's funny moments, had decent some decent action, but lacked in decent performances. Rogen delivered, Cameron Diaz was practically nonexistent to me in the film, her performance was forgettable, but Christoph Waltz overshadowed all in his portrayal of a crazy evil person guy. He can really sell the sinister thing, the way he can deliver his lines is really quite creepy. Great choice for a bad man though. 5.5/10 Kazed

Observe and Report (2009) review

Synposis: Bi-polar mall security guard Ronnie Barnhardt is called into action to stop a flasher from turning shopper's paradise into his personal peep show. But when Barnhardt can't bring the culprit to justice, a surly police detective, is recruited to close the case. I observed, and now I'm reporting. There really isn't a lot to report, it seemed as though the film was a cheaper knockoff of the 2006 Employee of The Month. There were striking similarities to the 2006 film, but still had a semblance of originality within the plot and some of the characters. Speaking of originality, there was absolutely no originality in Anna Faris' character, 'Brandi'. Simply put, it is the same character she's been playing countless times. Scary Movie, The House Bunny, Friends, Just Friends, to name just a few. It's something that's past redundant. It doesn't even exist anymore. The whole idea of her playing a 'typical' blonde make my testicles shrivel up and implode. Enough of that though, Seth Rogen, as expected was quite hilarious, but there was nothing that I haven't seen before, although there were tears, something which I thought he pulled off well. Ray Liotta's character left a lot to be desired; he didn't really standout to me. There were a number of twists which I thought were pretty effin' funny; taking on 50 cops and almost winning sounds like a helluva time to me. Not the best film I've seen starring Seth Rogen, but still worth the watch. 5.5/10

Knocked Up (2007) review

Synopsis: A one night stand turns into the unexpected for Ben, when Alison announces to him that she is now pregnant with his child. Ben decides that the best thing to do is to get his life sorted so he can care for Alison and his new child, which isn't an easy job for him. Knocked up is quite easily THE best Apatow production to date. Unlike some of the other films, the acting isn't over the top, nor is the comedic value. Despite what Katherine Heigl has said(see HERE), I really feel her performance in Knocked Up was such a strong one, and rightfully catapulted her into stardom. It felt raw, and the emotion that was present in a lot of her dialogue scenes were what astonished me. The chemistry between herself and Rogen was so believable; maybe not the fact that someone like her could end up with someone like him, more like if something like this were to happen, this would be the way it would go down. Similarly, the relationship between Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann was as equally as amusing as Heigl/Rogen. The conflicts both of the couples had were easily relatable on some level; the petty squabbles and the insecurities some of the characters displayed were just hilarious. Sure, it's 3 years old, but the fact that it can still uphold the sheer hilarity it did back then is proof that it's(for lack of a better or more appropriate word) just effing badass. Great film, great performances all round from the entire cast. 8/10
