Kazed on TV: True Blood

Having just started it's fourth season, I figured now is as good as a time to do a little post on this. I'm a big fan of True Blood, I see it as Twilight, but for adults. Or men. Or Adult men. And Women, of course. Just adult. True Blood is a gritty, sleazy, slutty, dirty, nasty, whorish piece of work, and although all of those words basically mean the same thing, there are an unlimited amount of words one could use to describe TB in a positive light. It follows a young waitress by the name of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who lives in a small town, Bon Temps, Louisiana. She encounters a large number of mythical creatures, and along the way discovers things about herself and her family which are quite unexpected. The show basically revolves around Vampires who actually live in harmony (kind of) with humans in this small town in Louisiana. Well, kind of. That's most definitely not the primary story of the show, there are many surrounding elements that make the show, but I guess a large chunk of the series revolves around Sookie and her relationship with the one billion year old Vampire(He's not that old, I just couldn't be bothered to Wikipedia it), named Bill Compton(Stephen Moyer). Although it can get a little slow at times, there's enough excitement in each episode to keep you entertained for the hour. With season four already started,  the first episode showed us that there are still a billion other stories to be told(not a billion, it's just safer saying a billion in case they do stuff a billion stories into one episode. You never know.). I should mention that True Blood is based off a series of books named something something southern vampire blah blah. Look it up on Google or something. Not really relevant, just thought it deserved a mention. Anyway, if you're into Twilight and you LOVE shiny vampires and R-Pattz and Bella and Edward and that gay wolf guy, then this is definitely NOT for you. Avoid this. Completely. True Blood is violent, gory, bloody, and definitely not for tweens. 7/10 Kazed

Cemetery Junction review

I went into the cinema with some expectations, being a huge HUGE fan of the office and extras I did keep my mind open to see what this film would be like. The expectations I had were met and exceeded by a mile, the film made me laugh, shed a tear and brought joy to me and my friend. Cemetery Junction is about a group of friends set in the early 70’s, and how one of them, Freddie has a dream of getting out of a small town and doing something extraordinary, something different. The film begins with Freddie applying for a job to be a door to door life insurance sales person, and his friends Bruce who is a factory worker and Snork who works at the local cemetery junction train station. Freddie doesn’t want to end up like his dad who also works at the factory he wants to be someone, move out of the small town. The film goes through the journey of the 3 friends and the trials and tribulations that they overcome. The film follows the hopes and dreams of young and old, and a nostalgic reality that is set in the warm suburbs of Reading. The cast is amazing, they are well developed and they work well together and you can definitely see the chemistry between them, you can definitely relate to one or more of the characters. The story has a perfect mix of drama and comedy and it does have a handful of laugh out loud moments. Overall it left me with a warm feeling in my stomach, and certainly made me think about my life so far in a wonderful joyous way. And would recommend it to you if you’re a fan of friends family laughter love growing up and having an adventure, the + of the film it is written and directed by Ricky Gervais Stephen Merchant. Worth a watch if you just want to laugh 7.5/10 Muni

Kazed Blogs #5 - Why I thought Avatar was the best film of 2009

Okay, so I did say ALMOST every week I'd blog. I sort of kept that promise. Watching it for a second time, Avatar immersed me into the world even more. People have asked me why I thought the film was one of the best films I've ever seen. It's hard to summarise points in one sentence, which is why I'm going to publish this. Solidify my thoughts on the Internet. These are just a few of the elements which make this film such a masterpiece. The CGI This is the most obvious reason, and quite possibly a reason why many people enjoyed the film. The CGI within Avatar was unlike anything I've ever witnessed before, sure, there have been films such as The Polar Express, and Beowulf which have used a similar visual style, but nothing come even close to Avatar. The characters, the lush, exotic environment were both created to an amazing degree, and watching both of these elements in action made me feel immersed within the action and I literally felt like I was within Pandora. The Environment Yeah, I sort of mentioned this above, but it was the environment which was incredible, and was so vivid and imaginative, and the bioluminescence that was present within the plant life and the Na'vi was nothing short of spectacular. The sheer beauty that emanated from the nature was breathtaking, a work of art, something which could never exist in the real world, but funnily enough, is where Cameron derived his inspiration from; from things that already exist. that's not to say a forest like that exists, but who knows. The soundtrack The sheer power that is contained within the soundtrack reflects so perfectly within the film. Every moment within the soundtrack could quite simply referred to as epic. In particular, is the opening piece, and the song used throughout the duration of the final battle.  What is shown in amazing visuals throughout this film, is most definitely reflected equally within the soundtrack of Avatar. An amazing soundtrack to accompany an amazing film. Like I said, these elements are but a few of several which made this film what it is. Sure, this may not entirely sum up why I thought it was such a great film, but I think they are a few of the one that affected the greatness of the spectacle that was Avatar. Kazed Next blog- Soundtrack in film. Heck yes.
