Kazed Reviews: Super 8 (2011)

So it's a little unfair how the US got to see this baby over two months before the UK folk did, but hey, whatever. It just means that this review is meaningless over in the US, right? Maybe. From the outset, the performances were above spectacular, and I was surprised to find that these were from the children, who led the rest of the cast with their brilliant portrayals of their on screen counterparts. Throughout the film they didn't fail to impress. The first scene in which the kids were rehearsing their little film was amazing. I'm referring to the performance of Elle Fanning, who played Alice Dainard. The reactions to her performance by 'Joe' (Joel Courtney), 'Charles' (Riley Griffiths) and the rest of the crew was the same reaction I had after witnessing that wonderful performance by the young lady. Speaking of the cast, the chemistry between the Fanning and Courtney was incredible; to have such chemistry on screen at such a young age isn't something that you see much these days. The story itself was great. J.J Abrams did a great job of keeping everything under wraps until close the the final quarter of the film when everything was revealed. This, was where we saw the full extent and beauty of the production value of Super 8. It was so beautifully done; nothing over the top, it seemed just the right amount of destruction, chaos and death and all that. There were slight touches of E.T. and Close Encounters tucked away amidst everything, but there were obvious inspirational nods to Spielberg's classic flicks. Abrams delivered an impeccable film with so much packed in it; nostalgic moments, spectacular action scenes, and of course the customary emotional stuff. The references to Cloverfield, Star Trek, and even Lost he put in the film gave me a chuckle, but they provided a sense of "hmm-yeah-that's-cool". Performances: 9/10 Plot: 8/10 Visuals: 8/10 Dialogue: 7/10 Overall: 8.5/10

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) teaser trailer online

It's official, The Dark Knight Rises has a teaser trailer, and it's now online. It's badly filmed in the cinema, but it's still online. Now I must say this: I will not watch this. I have had it confirmed that it is the trailer, but I am going to wait for it in the right environment, the cinema. With good sound, perfect quality, and most importantly, the atmosphere. Now, if this moral statement has not changed your mind, here it is Teaser Trailer enjoy   'The Dark Knight Rises'  is the third and final film in Nolan's Batman trilogy, and will be released in July 2012.

Brand new trailer for Super 8 (2011)

Check this out, via Twitter, the new trailer for J.J. Abrams new film, Super 8. This looks like something else. Check out the official synopsis from Paramount: In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident.

Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined. J.J. Abrams has a tendency to keep thing under wraps, and this film wasn't an exception. Back in May, the teaser trailer was released, but not much else was known about the film. Only speculation that the film may be related to the 2008 Cloverfield. These speculations were deemed incorrect. Anyway, the trailer looks extremely promising, it's usually difficult to judge a film based on the trailer as I've discussed before, but DAAAYYYYYYYM, this looks like it could impress. Kazed.

Trailer for Super (2011)

Synopsis: When sad sack Frank D’Arbo (Rainn Wilson) sees his ex-addict wife (Liv Tyler) willingly snatched by a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), he finds himself unable to cope. But when the finger of God blesses his brain (don’t ask), D’Arbo decides to fight back under the guise of a DIY superhero called Crimson Bolt. In order to get his wife back, he must first fight his way up the criminal ranks, and he begins by taking a monkey wrench to the foreheads of a couple who cut in line at the movies. As Crimson Bolt begins to make the headlines, a young woman from the local comic book store (Ellen Page) joins in on the fun as his sexually charged sidekick, Boltie. Wow, it's great to see originality these days, seriously. Check out this hilarious Trailer & Clip from Director James Gunn(Slither), and starring Rainn Wilson from the US Office. Trailer:
Clip: God, this looks hilarious! Seems like a less polished Kick Ass , but with the addition of Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page AND Kevin Bacon make it an amazing film already. Super releases April in the US and everywhere else after that. Courtesy goes to SlashFilm and Yahoo Movies for the trailer. Look forward to this film, and seriously- "Shut up crime" has to be THE best catchphrase a Superhero has ever had. Kazed
